St. Michael’s National School is under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Ossory.
The ethos of our school recognises the central role of the family and of parents in their children’s education.
We place significant emphasis on the holistic development and education of children in a safe environment where they are encouraged to develop to their maximum potential and fulfil their role in society.
We place a strong emphasis on creating a happy and co-operative learning environment for those who work and study in our school.
St. Michael’s National School is a co-educational Catholic primary school, under the patronage of the Bishop of Ossory. We welcome children of all faiths, and of none. We are a growing school and are going from strength to strength.
Currently we have 65 pupils attending our school, 34 boys and 31 girls. Each classroom in our school is brightly coloured and the many resources provide a stimulating environment for the children to learn in. The three mainstream classrooms each have an interactive whiteboard and the children regularly use iPads to enhance their learning. We pride ourselves on having the most active children in Ireland! Healthy bodies make healthy minds.
The school employs a part-time secretary, Ann, each Tuesday and Thursday until 9am-3pm. The secretary will answer any queries regarding the school during these hours.
Enrollment Procedures: Parents who wish to enroll their children in St. Michael’s National School may do so by contacting the school by phone, 0567727588, or email, danesfortns@gmail.com and then by completing an Admissions Application form.

Danesfort is a very vibrant and proactive community. St. Michael’s N.S is situated right at the heart of it, shoulder to shoulder with the church, GAA club and Danesfort Community Centre. We are lucky to have Danesfort Community Childcare Centre next door, where many of our pupils attend before and after school. We are blessed to have such fantastic facilities on our doorstep, in a beautiful rural setting and yet just 5 minutes from Kilkenny City.
